Happy Birthday Mickey Mouse! Styling a Photoshoot or Birthday Party with the Cricut Air 2!

Hi y'all! One of my favorite things to do is style photoshoots!

I have done quite a few for my talented friend Stefanie of Stefanie Photography!

**Though I was compensated for this post in product and/or monetarily, all opinions, ideas and comments are 100% my own. Please note: this post may also contain affiliate links.**

I also enjoy styling parties! When my kiddies were little, I had a BLAST! From Toy Story Parties, to Dr Seuss and of course, Minnie Mouse ones, I styled them all using my ORIGINAL Cricut machines! I still have my Cricut Expression!

Yesterday was MICKEY MOUSE'S BIRTHDAY! Happy Birthday to the most famous mouse EVER!

I thought I'd share this sweet Mickey Mouse-inspired photoshoot I styled last week for Stefanie, as well as take a look back at some of the Mickey/Minnie Inspired parties I've styled and show y'all how EASY with my brand new machine, the Cricut Explore Air 2!

Stock Photo
I was lucky enough to receive the Cricut Air 2 to review and compare it to previous models. I have my Expression as I mentioned, as well as the previous Explore Air.

I figured I'd do it in a fun way! MICKEY MOUSE IS ALWAYS FUN! :)

You can see the rest of the photos for this shoot on Stefanie's FB page here. The sweet birthday boy was just SO precious, too!

The banners were SO easy to make using my Cricut Air 2! Best part, since I had to make a ton of  Mickey heads, I went ahead and gave that new 'fast mode' a try! Did you know that the Cricut Air 2 cuts TWICE as fast as its predecessor?! Well, it does, and it's AWESOME!

I found all of the elements for the banners either in Cricut Access (here's coupon for 10% off the rest of your order if you sign up for Access) or on the Mickey and Friends Cricut Cartridge which I had from A LONG time ago! Here's a special link for the Cricut Thanksgiving sale, you can buy Cricut cartridges for the lowest price of the season!

I found a stack of cardstock in the colors I needed for the photoshoot and went to town cutting the Mickey heads! I punched holes out where I wanted to hang them, and then used red and white baker's twine to put the banner together.

The front banner was equally as easy. I used a banner found in Cricut Access and cut out each layer in Design Space using the colors I wanted and font I wanted. I put all layers together using my favorite permanent Crafter's tape roll.

SO CUTE, right?!

Here's that Minnie Sweets table I did for my daughter's 5th birthday from LONG ago! Don't judge the picture, my photo skills were not that great back then!

Though I loved my Cricut Expression back then, the brand new Explore Air 2 definitely makes life SO much easier. Gone are the days of having to purchase the physical cartridges, or being limited to just whatever cartridge you owned. The ease of being able to purchase images and fonts RIGHT in Design Space make for a more fun experience! Also, did you know that you can upload your OWN images and fonts into Design Space!? Well, you can!

So Happy Birthday Mickey, and make sure YOU check out the new Air 2 from Cricut! It makes styling both Photoshoots AND Birthdays a breeze!

What fun Disney projects have YOU done?! Please share them with me in the comments!

A huge thank you to Cricut for continuing to support my crafting habit! ;)

Minnie Headband Party Favors

Isn't my sweet Wunkie SO CUTE?!?!
Hi y'all! It's DAY 5 of Minnie Week! :) YAYYYYY!

Today, I will share with you my tutorial (with bad/dark pictures, I apologize) for my daughter's Minnie Mouse headband party gift tutorial!

I found a pack of 10 headbands for $1 at Dollar Tree, then simply wrapped some black ribbon around each one dotting some hot glue all along the way, just like I did for the

If you recall the bow tutorial from my wreath post, use the same instructions, only on a smaller scale and attach the bow to the wrapped head band with the strip that wraps around the front of the bow. (See pictures.)
Next make two felt ears (you can use foam as well) but if you use felt, make sure you cut out FOUR circles, leaving each pair attached slightly at the bottom as you will wrap the ears around the headband in order to attach them and make them sturdier. Hot glue them on and together.

That is it! So easy and such a sweet party favor!  I made a few Mickeys too, since we had some boys attend the party.  Everyone gathered for a picture with their ears on and a week later, Wunkie wore hers to DISNEY WORLD! Amongst the sea of princesses, Wunkie was easy to spot out (pun intended) in her homemade (YES, HOMEMADE!) polka dotted dress and Minnie ears! Here is she the morning before we left the hotel for Disney!

Hope you are enjoying Minnie Week...I might actually extend it a few days into next week!  What say you!?

Evey

Minnie Swag Bag

Hi y'all! It 's Day FOUR of Minnie Week! YAAAAAAAAY!

This craft was so simple, the kids did it themselves during the party!

Minnie Headband Tutorial on Friday!
Isn't my sweet Wunkie Princess so GORGEOUS!?

I blurred/cropped out the other girls out of respect for their privacy!

Here is what my table looked like one night while working on her party!

Please note the wine. It was of utmost importance! ;)
 Back to the "Swag bag"....

All I used were this sweet totes I found at Walmart, a pack of three for $1, some black acrylic paint, and these really nifty sponge tops, attached them to my acrylic paint bottle and made sure the paint was freely flowing and thoroughly spread out on the sponge tip and dot one large circle (use the larger topper),then two dots (smaller topper) for the ears.  To make this Minnie, simply glue a small red bow on top of the head.  Please note: to avoid the paint from bleeding through to the other side of the bag, place a small piece or cardboard inside the bag.

That's it!

I'm having so much fun sharing my daughter's Minnie party with you guys!

Leave me some comments if and let me know if you are enjoying Minnie Week as much as I am!

Minni Mouse Cake Topper Tutorial

Hi, y'all! It's DAY THREE OF MINNIE WEEK! YAAAAAAAAAAY!

I showed y'all my daughter's cake yesterday and promised here is the tutorial for how to make the toppers!  I had seen this picture floating around on Pinterest, however there wasn't a tutorial.  Though I thought of using royal icing to use as glue, I opted for chocolate ganache, because I really liked the idea of a chocolate-covered Oreo!

You will need regular size Oreos, Mini or Bite-sized Oreos, some fairly large heart-shaped sprinkles, and some chocolate ganache.  It is extremely easy to make, and I feel like this  recipe and video tutorial describes it best.  Set up an assembly line and place your Oreos on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and begin "gluing" the Minnie heads together with some ganache on their backs.
Place the "glued" heads in the freezer to speed up the hardening process for the ganache.  After about an hour, remove them from the freezer and turn them onto their backs.  Use more ganache to "paste" two heart sprinkles into a bow shape onto the front of the Oreo Minnie head.

That's it! So easy, right!? Check out one more time how cute it looks on the cake and cupcakes!

A Minnie Mouse Party

:) Hello! It's DAY 2 of Minnie Week!  Yay!

Yesterday, I  shared my Minnie Wreath Tutorial.  Today, I will share some party details and my sweets table!

Oreo Minnie Tutorial tomorrow!

The cake was a three layer 6in round "mini" Minnie Cake.  It was my daughter's favorite flavor: Devil's Food cake, with strawberries and cream filling, covered in cream cheese butter cream frosting.  Yes.  It was decadent.  She loved every minute of it!

Details are everything.  These bags were $0.94 each.  We fancied them up with a cute printable tag and some scrapbook paper!  The fabric-lined baskets were from The Dollar Tree.

This vintage apothecary jar was a thrifted treasure for, you guessed it, ONE DOLLAR! :)  I filled jars with red candies and goodies for the girls to enjoy.  Again, I attached some cute printables and scrapbook paper, as well as some ribbon.  It adds some charm to the sweets table when you have jars filled with candy!

Craft Tutorial on Thursday!

The girls did a quick and easy craft.  Total cost of this sweet "swag bag" that they each got to take home?  Only a little over a dollar per child.  Yes.  That is right.  Thank goodness, too because there were quite a few kids present!

Cherry raspberry lemonade was served in mason jars with grey and white paper straws.

The cupcakes were also topped with Minnie Oreos!   $1 Mickey and Minnie bubbles were given out as prizes for my special "Find the Hidden Minnies/Mickeys game".

Finally, my sweets table was both simple and playful!  Some white cake stands and plates held the cookies and my homemade cake pop stands held up the darling cake pops! (Cake pops and cookies by my good friend Dawn!)

I hope you are enjoying Minnie week so far!  I had a blast planning and preparing for this party!  I hope you hop in again tomorrow for MORE Minnie fun!

Evey

Dollar Tree DIY Minnie Mouse Wreath Tutorial

:) Hi y'all!

Sneak Peek at the Sweets Table! Pops and Cookies by Pop-A-Razzi

IT'S OFFICIALLY MINNIE/MICKEY WEEK! YAAAAYY!

Sorry, I get excited sometimes.

Anyway,  here is my tutorial for the Minnie Wreath I made for my Wunkie Princess' birthday!

You will need one floral foam wreath form (I got mine from the Dollar Tree), two foam discs (Yup, you got it! Dollar Tree!), some floral wire (DOLLAR TREE!) some black ribbon, some polka dotted ribbon, a glue gun, wire cutter, scissors, and some felt remnants.

First, begin by wrapping the black ribbon around the wreath form, dotting some hot glue along the way to ensure that it doesn't unwrap or come undone. Finish it with a nice dollop of hot glue.

Next, cut some floral wire into two strips, each about 1ft long.  Cut two strips of ribbon, long enough to wrap around the foam discs, leaving about an inch of foam exposed.  Cut four circles from your felt.  I use a piece of chalk and simply trace around the discs. Fold the wire strips in half, and loop the folded wire through a piece of ribbon once you know where you want the ears to be attached.  Add a dollop of hot glue under the ribbon. Push the folded wire into the wreath form.  Add some more glue to the discs and insert the wire ends into them, one at a time.  You now have a Mickey Mouse head!

But we want Minnie. :)

Disregard the ONE weirdly painted thumbnail. -_-

So we need a BOW!  Cut your polka dot ribbon into a strip of approximately six inches. Join the two ends into a circle and attach with a dab of hot glue.  Join the middle of the circle, gluing the "front" to the inside of the back.  Then scrunch together to get a pretty bow-like center, dabbing more hot glue on it to hold it together like in the above picture.  Cut a small strip of ribbon in half down the middle and wrap it around the bow for the center.  Notice the two glue spots in the picture above?  They hold it all together.  Attach it to your wreath and you are done! :)

Here it is, hanging on my front door! Happy crafting!

xoxo,

Evey
