"Farmhouse Fun" Nightstand-July FFFC™ sponsored by OFMP

**Though I was compensated for this post in product and/or monetarily, all opinions, ideas and comments are 100% my own. Please note: this post may also contain affiliate links.**

Hey, y'all!

If you are new to these parts, welcome! A new month can only mean one thing around here...new Fab Furniture Flippin' Contest™ (FFFC)!

What's the FFFC™ you ask? Well, I'll tell you! It's a monthly sponsored contest for furniture flippin' bloggers where said bloggers compete to win a fab prize by that month's fab sponsor!

This month's sponsor is none other than The Old Fashioned Milk Paint (OFMP)!

OFMP was the original true milk paint on the market in its modern-day powder form. True milk paint has been around for centuries, though! For more on the history and for more info on what it can do, check out this post.

If you are on my little corner of the internet often, then you know it's my favorite paint ever! Since this month's theme is "Farmhouse Fun", I just KNEW I wanted to use the color Pitch Black and that I wanted to let the milk paint do what it does best: chip.

I found this piece years ago at a garage sale for a song. I knew it was just perfect for what I had in mind.

Since it had been sitting in the corner of my garage for so long, I began by giving it a REALLY good cleaning! I used my go-to product Simple Green. I decided that it was a good time for a social media PSA. :)

Seriously, the thing was disgusting. After wiping it down, I sanded where I wanted the paint to STICK. The easiest way to control how much milk paint chips is to sand away any shiny finish that may have previously been on a piece where you don't want any chipping. Milk paint was created for porous surfaces, so it will stick like no tomorrow to unfinished surfaces. When applied to a previously painted or finished surface, it will lift and chip away as it dries. Basically, the previous finish will act as a resist. If you don't want any chipping at all, you can either sand the entire piece down, or you can add some Extra-Bond to your mixed milk paint. I talk all about milk paint over on my YouTube page here. Make sure you check the video out if you want to see more tips and tricks on how to work with true milk paint.

After mixing my milk paint powder with equal parts water, I gave it a few coats of paint, waiting in between coats as they dried. I used Pitch Black, which a true black and just glorious! As expected, it chipped right where I wanted it to, along the edges and bottom where I didn't sand down while prepping my piece. I gave it some more distressing with a sanding sponge and helped the chipping along.

Once I thought it had enough distressing and happy chipping, I finished it up with some Daddy Vans All Natural Beeswax Lavender Furniture Polish which you can buy through OFMP.

The result was the perfect "Farmhouse Fun" look! To add a bit more to my piece I decided to change out the hardware to a cute ceramic bird and to decoupage some matching paper into the drawer.

I staged it with a rooster and some vintage books to enhance that farmhouse feel. I'm just smitten with this cute table!

If you're curious about that wall behind it, stay tuned. More on that later!

Check back throughout the month as our entries come in for more "Farmhouse Fun" inspiration! Good luck to all of the entrants!

"Pure and Original Elegance": April FFFC- Sponsored by Pure and Original Paints

**Even though this post might contain affiliate links or sponsored content, all ideas, thoughts, and opinions are 100% my own!**

Hey y'all! A new month can only mean a new thing around these parts...A NEW FFFC! What's the FFFC, you ask? Why it's our awesome monthly sponsored contest for furniture flippin' bloggers who LOVE to stretch their imagination to the limit theme after theme, month after month!

This month's Fab Sponsor is none other than Pure and Original Paint USA! I'm so very excited to share this paint company with you guys, I'm totally smitten by it! The options in finishes, colors and products are so vast and amazing, it makes my head spin with delight! It's also green and super safe, which you know is huge in my book!

Our theme: "Pure and Original Elegance", which was so fitting for this high end brand. Are you ready to see my project?! I teased it a bit yesterday when I incorporated it into my #swapitlikeitshot project HERE.

Check out the BEFORE pics of my piece:

This table spent quite a few years in an old barn before I saw it for sale a couple of summers ago

$10 later, and it was mine. It was absolutely gorgeous but needed a lot of work. I didn't feel like taking it on at the moment so I used it but kept it covered up with everything from tablecloths and runners to doilies.

Duke Photobomb

Yup. There he is again, photobombing my blog post pictures like a BOSS! Ohhh Duke!

Back to the piece, though. When Pure and Original decided they wanted in on the FFFC action, I instantly KNEW I wanted to redo this lovely entryway table for this month's contest.

I thoroughly cleaned the piece, you can see how here.

Then I sanded it to ensure proper adhesion and to get rid of all of the scratches in the piece, as well as to be able to stain the top.

I used two colors to get my favorite layered finish ever, Blue Reef and Polar Blue.

 Aren't those colors so yummy!?

I'm in LOVE y'all. Honestly, just in love with the piece now! I stained the top in a custom color, more on that later, and painted the base with that Blue Reef, then white-washed the Polar Blue over it. I sanded back on the Polar Blue to reveal more of that gorgeous Blue Reef. I did a Periscope of the technique which you can catch HERE. I then slightly distressed the edges and anywhere that a piece would naturally distress overtime. Though Pure and Original's Classico line does not require a sealant, I always seal my pieces. I haven't gotten around to it just yet but will soon. I want to keep that dead flat finish so I'll likely use their Dead Flat Eco-Sealer.

See how I accomplished the accent wall using P&O HERE
Isn't that finish to DIE for!? Honestly, if that doesn't scream "Pure and Original Elegance", I don't know what does.

It makes me all sorts of happy!

Make sure to check out all of our other Fab Hosts' inspiration pieces for this month.

"A Fresh Start": January FFFC- Sponsored by General Finishes

**Though I was compensated in product and/or monetarily for this post, all ideas, thoughts and opinions are 100% mine!

Hey, y'all! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season! Also, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It's a brand new month, but also a brand new YEAR! Yay!

New month can only mean one thing...New month of the Fab Furniture Flippin' Contest.

This month's fab sponsor is General Finishes. Yes! They are back again for a fun new month, and this time they have brought their brand new Chalk Style Paint to the party!

Here are our fab hosts, make sure you check out all of their awesome inspiration pieces for this month's contest.

Evey of Evey's Creations (Co-Creator)
Stacy of Anastasia Vintage (Co-Creator)
Charlotte of Ciburbanity
Lynn of Fern Avenue
Carrie of Thirty Eighth Street
Colleen of 58 Water Street

I am one of the featured hosts this month, as is Stacy, and Carrie has a great project as well!

I'm excited to show you my awesome piece for this month. Our theme was "A Fresh Start". I had the perfect piece to fit it.
Here it is in all its "humble beginnings"glory.

I bought this piece for $10 off a local buy/sell/trade page on Facebook. It had some sturdy bones but had definitely seen better days.

After cleaning it up, I lightly sanded it, took the top off, then loaded up my favorite paint sprayer with some of General Finishes' Chalk Style Paint in Moroccan Yellow, some of their Enduro Extender, and got to work. As the base dried, I upholstered the top by adding foam, some batting and some fabric. It got stapled together, then put back together, and I had a lovely upholstered ottoman.

I liked it, but thought it was missing something so I went ahead and taped off a line for a stripe.

I used some Chalk Style Paint in Empire Grey and went ahead and added it.

I sealed the whole thing with some of my favorite clear wax and added some finishing touches with my favorite metallic waxes. I'll be sure to explain that another day.
I can't WAIT to see what our participants submit this month! Make sure you stay tuned to see their entries, as well.

"Spray it Pretty" October FFFC- Sponsored by: HomeRight

**Though I was compensated in product and/or monetarily for this post, all ideas, thoughts and opinions are 100% mine!

Hi y'all! It's October and you know what that means...A NEW FAB FURNITURE FLIPPIN' CONTEST! :)

If you're just joining us and haven't the slightest idea as to what I'm referring to, allow me to explain.
The FFFC is a monthly competition for Fab Furniture Flippin' Bloggers who get to compete for a grand prize! Each month, we will have a different theme, and each month will be sponsored by a different brand. The participants are competing to win a prize from that month's fab sponsor!

This month's fab sponsor is none other than HomeRight! You guys already know how much I love this company! I've even told you how to 'Spray (almost) every type of paint' with their amazing paint sprayers. I've also shared with you some ways to use your HR Digital Temp Heat Gun!

HomeRight makes a plethora of DIY-friend products that will help you fulfill all of your DIY dreams. I'm serious, go check them out! Thank you to HomeRight for sponsoring this month!

I got to try out their newest product, their brand new Spray Shelter. I used my Finish Air Max Pro, and once I have enough sunlight to properly photograph my project, I will share it with you. (Sorry, we've had nothing but rain thanks to the storm that has hit the East Coast. Prayers are with those in SC, especially.)
I can't share my latest piece with you just yet, but try and guess what it is! I will give you a hint ...it's a furniture repurpose that matches my daughter's Frozen-Inspired Vanity and she will be able to sit on it! I loved the fact that I was able to spray inside since spraying outside was out of the question with the rain. I simply put a tarp down in my workshop and set up the spray shelter and sprayed away. I promise to share pics as soon as it's bright enough in my home to take them! In the meanwhile, here are some pictures of other pieces I've sprayed using my HR sprayer!

Frozen-Inspired Vanity

Details, details...

Ain't she pretty!?

Milk-Painted Buffet
Yes, true real deal milk paint. It sprays like a dream!

Custom General Finishes Color Blend
I personally love to spray acrylics but I find that you can spray virtually any type of paint!

I cannot wait to see what our participants link up for this month's entries! HomeRight was awesome enough to provide sprayers for EACH participant this month! YES! Up for grabs as the grand prize is their brand new Spray Shelter and their Digital Temp Heat Gun! It doesn't get much better than that!

Make sure you hop over to the other hosts' blogs to see their inspiration pieces. (Check back here for mine, too!) This month, Lynn and I are the featured hosts. Make sure to check out her post here.

Our other Fab Hosts are:

Stacy of Anastasia Vintage
Charlotte of Ciburbanity

and our brand new host:
