Hi y'all! A few weeks ago, I went to one of my favorite thrift shops (cue Macklemore) and found this piece for $2. From what I was told, it is a discontinued IKEA piece. I knew what wanted to do WITH it, but didn't know exactly what to do TO it. Its previous owner had painted it white so essentially, it was primed for me.
The first thing I did was clean it out. It was GROSS! I pulled out my "can of never-ending paint", Driftwood Grey by Glidden, and gave it a couple coats. Side note, this paint can has been used on about five projects thus far and it never seems to end. Back to my organizer. It sat that way in my family room for approximately 3 weeks. Yes, 3 weeks. It just didn't look finished to me but I was unsure how to finish it. Then, I went to my awesome Blogger's Day Out at Cutting Edge Stencils and came home with some pretty cool stencils, including the one I had used on my tote bag during the tour.
Inspiration hit me and I decided to stencil my mini chest of drawers. I started with the top, dead center. Then randomly added various parts of the stencil to each individual drawer.
I love the outcome! I especially love knowing all my paints, brushes, paint markers, Sharpies and other supplies are finally ORGANIZED and in one place! I can now actually find them when I need them.
What do y'all think? Isn't she pretty?!
xoxo

DeleteThat looks awesome! The stencils are the right touch. I've yet to do a stencil project. It certainly gave it much more interest and charm. What a cool little cabinet, Evey. Perfect for your crafty stuff!
ReplyDeleteAw thank you Sherry! You should go for it! It's super easy and tons of fun! :)
DeleteVery pretty, Evey. I have that same stencil, but haven't done anything with it yet. I love they way you used bits and parts of it for the organizer.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Sheila! I am absolutely loving this stencil!
DeleteLove it, girlfriend! You did an excellent job, and I love how different the stencil pattern looks on here versus on the tote bag. Very versatile!
