"Love is Patient" Valentine's Day Decor

Hi y'all!  It's almost Valentine's Day!  I know, some of you out there hate this "Hallmark Holiday" (cough, cough, DEE!) but I LOVE it! ;) I think I'm enamored with the idea of celebrating LOVE.  I'm corny, I know.  Maybe parenting a girl has finally made me one.  Anyway, here is my entry faux-mantel/vignette!  I went with a "Sweet Treats" theme, complete with part of my favorite "love" verse, 1Cor. 13.  I have used this verse in other projects before!  I realize I should have maybe swept the floor before taking the above shot, and I had that morning, I promise.  I guess I should show you the culprit...that is bird seed on the floor. It's always there, regardless of how many times I sweep or vacuum.  Her name is Sunny.  She is my daughter's sweet baby birdie!

OH RIGHT! Back to the Valentine's Day decor...

Here are some details!

For the wreath, I kept it simple and wrapped some ribbon around it.  I then added a sticker that said "Amore" to the top corner, along with some baker's twine and scrapbook paper mini bunting to the center and called it a day. :)

How sweet (pun intended) is this mini cupcake stand ornament?  My sweet Mom in law got it for me a couple years ago for my daughter's Cupcake and Tea Party! I heart it SO much.

I grouped together three of my apothecary jars and filled the larger one with twine and ribbon, the medium one with some Gluten Free Sixlets in pink, red and white, and the smallest jar with mini Valentine's Day cupcake liners.  I then finished them off with some baker's twine in ombre shades, because I'm cool like that.  My sweet Wunkie made an mini pom to place next to the jars.  Oh! I must tell you about my apothecary jars!  The two small ones were thrifted for a dollar each.  The larger one I found on sale at TJ Maxx for $10.  That's right.  Let that soak in...

I added some Dollar Store heart-shaped doilies and more baker's twine to my wine bottle candle holders. I also pulled out a couple of the ceramic cupcakes I own to keep with the theme. If you know me, you know I have a million cupcakes in every form imaginable! It's an obsession, really!

Other things I have far too many of...cake domes and trays.  There's a cupcake candle in there! :)

But my FAVORITE part of my vignette, are those above.  The gorgeous tulips my sweet E brought me.  You see, besides being hilarious and witty (as you have seen from her blog posts), she also happens to be INCREDIBLY caring.  If you follow me on Facebook, you know I haven't been feeling like my spunky Evey self.  Her visit and these pretty flowers, made my entire week. :) She even brought them to me in a MASON JAR.  So, thank you Erika! You put the finishing touch on my mantel AND made me insanely grateful to have you in my world! Here's one last look....

Oh, and as for the quote on the chalkboard...here's the whole passage:

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

It's found in 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7.  If that isn't an awesome definition of true love, I don't know what is. Patience is something I struggle with...I'm trying though!  Take a moment to LOVE today y'all!

xoxo

  2. It's not that I hate love or even Valentine's Day, I just don't think the majority of the world tears down their red & green holiday decor to replace it with pink and white hearts. It's a day, on a calendar, reserved for school girls. At most, an adult (married w/children) woman just wants 10 mins of peace and quite and take out. That's all I'm saying. And - keep in mind I have quite the love story myself. How many people do you know marry their ex-husband after years of dating everyone else's ex-husbands??? :) So, love I'm fine with - puking it up over my home decor is where I draw the line. ~ Love the birdie btw so the birdseeds are a-ok in my book. :)
