Good morning! Yes, this will be a weekly post! :) Last night, my mom, my oldest, my daughter and I went out to eat. I overheard our waiter talking to another waiter. The words that caught my attention were "There is no God, there's only Science". I immediately started to listen in...I know, BAD MANNERS! I just could NOT help myself. When they brought their debate closer to my table I looked up and let them know I was listening. I have to say, the place was near empty as it was very late! It is also a place we frequent, so they know us. The other waiter asked me what I thought. I smiled and said, "You're asking a preacher's daughter to preach? Are you sure about that!?", then my waiter asked me if I agreed with Science and evolution. I told him that my brain is scientifically wired, that I tend to want to find things out, prove them, disprove them; but given all of that, I am still a believer of Christ. If there is anything I've learned in my life is that we are here for a purpose. I know my purpose is to serve Him and to tell others my story when it might serve as a seed being planted in their hearts. (Yes, I know I promised you all my story, I'll get there one day. It's a long, complicated one.) So that's what I did, I told him my story. I also told him that when I look at the human body and how it is so perfect in every way, I CAN'T deny that we were created! I explained to him my thoughts about the Big Bang, even went into some thermodynamics! (Not that I fully comprehend it!) My mother said to me "The fool says in his heart, there is no God" (Psalms 14:1) and that brought to mind a few quotes by C.S. Lewis. "Atheism turns out to be too simple. If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning. . ." (from Mere Christianity). I also told him that the fact he was entertaining the thought of God vs. No God meant he was created differently than say, my puppy, Duke! :) C.S. Lewis said in God in the Dock “One of the things that distinguishes man from the other animals is that he wants to know things, wants to find out what reality is like, simply for the sake of knowing". I leave you with a question, how has God moved in YOUR life? How has He told you "HEY YOU! I'M RIGHT HERE!"? Do share! :)
