THE CUPCAKE AND TEA PARTY POST!!!

Hello all! I know I have been promising this post FOREVER! Well, it's FINALLY HERE!  My daughter's Cupcake and Tea party was held a couple weeks ago, and it was by far the most fun party I've had the pleasure of planning! My daughter told me it was the best party ever, which of course made my day!  Here she is with her candles and cupcakes!

Vanity take one

I say "take one" because I have yet to finish the stool and mirror for this piece! I am so excited with how the actual vanity turned out though, that I wanted to share it today! Also, because it was a gift for my Wunkie princess and was used for the cupcake spread for her "Cupcake and Tea" party! :)  I will get to that post, I promise!  I had to use my friend's camera since mine died five minutes into the ordeal! -__-  So, when I get the pictures from her, you will get the magical Tea party post from me! hehe...Ok, so the vanity!  It started out like this as I shared in this post!

A Cupcake and Tea Party Sneak Peek

Ahh! :) :) It's almost the big day!! Wunkie's Vintage Cupcake and Tea party! I have found a few more wonderful treasures for it, and I've been playing around with my new Cricut Expression for the decorations! Here's a small taste of what will go down on the actual day!

Isn't that little tea set SO CUTE?! One of the perks of having a mom who works in the NYC! I've seen some wonderful parties all over blogland (this one is my fav!) that paired up paper doilies and mason jars for a darling look.  I decided to incorporate them everywhere! You will see! In keeping with the vintage yet "updated" theme, I paired up soft pink with a lime green colors throughout.  Isn't my apothecary jar gorgeous?! :) Picked her up at TJMaxx last week for only $9.99!! 

 The girls will be making cardstock fans for the tea party, that is my sample! The cute retro-ish mini glasses are from Ikea for $2.99 per pack of six!  The paper straws were a bit of a splurge but totally worth it! They are from The Sugar Diva as is my pink and white baker's twine. That vintage crystal candy jar was a thrift store find for $2! 

Saw this banner and loved the combination of the paper doilies with fabric.  I decided to make my own version and used some pink tulle and fabric remnants I had from another project.  I put my Cricut to work and came up with a cute banner.  :)  Lighting is off, since it's 1am and I'm trying not to wake this cute puppy up. haha

Please disregard the messy couch behind it! I'm still working on the backdrop!  Sidenote: if you're lucky enough, like me, to have a friend with an insane amount of vintage and handmade doilies, tablecloths and linens, BY ALL MEANS- be shameless like I was today and take as many as she offers! (Thanks Victoria! <3)  She made me a cup of tea, too.  THAT is a friend! ;)  Enjoy your day!

Tea Party Preparations cont.

:)  If you have been awesome enough to follow my baby blog, you might know that I'm planning a Cupcake and Tea birthday party for my soon to be 5yr old daughter!  I found this  awesome graphic at The Graphics Fairy's fantastic website, and have decided to transfer it to either a canvas or wood.  I've seen several methods, including the one on her website, which is done with Mod Podge onto wood.  Which method have you guys used?

If you recall this post, I made some DIY invitations for the party last month.  I've since modified the invitation slightly, it looks like this, now! :)

I've made a few things, including the following decorations, some pom poms for two frames, (I used this tutorial) with some fabulous baker's twine!

I also made some cupcake artwork, with scrapbook paper, a canvas, and some Modge Podge! :)

I'll keep you guys posted!  For now I'm off to the boardwalk! We're away on vacation! I'll be sharing some awesome finds with you later on this week! I love all of the specialty gift shops here at the Jersey shore! My mom in law actually found some cupcake string lights! :) Woohoo!

Tea Party Essentials

I've said before that "Thrifting is Hapiness" and boy, I meant it! :)  I've slowly but surely been gathering all of the "essentials" for my Wunkie Princess' upcoming "Cupcake and Tea" birthday party!  You can check out my DIY invitations here.  :)  My local thrift store has "half off week" at the beginning of each month (I KNOW! GREAT, RIGHT!?), and I usually hit the store at least three times that week!  Over the past two months, I've gathered the following tea cups, tea pots, and cake dishes (most of them vintage):

 The "Dream" sign was picked up by my mom-in law at her local Christmas Tree Shop for something awesome like $3.  Here is some more I picked up:

The BEST part: THE PRICES! 

The complete green set with teapot and creamer, 5 teacups, 5 saucers, and 5 cake plates was marked at $15.  I got it for $7.  The two blue sets were each marked at $4 and $6.  The 2 pink teapots were each marked at $3.  Half off, baby! :) The teapot that says "Tea" is from TJMaxx, for $3. Oh and a free box to put it all in!  My grand total for Wunkie's tea party essentials: $16!!!! :) 

Aside from the actual tea sets, I purchased a vintage silver tray for $2, and a vintage silver cake stand for $4 at an estate sale.  I also purchased several crystal pieces at the same thrift store, during half off week for $1 each.  I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself!  But I have to say, la piece de resistance, is this incredible vintage vanity with mirror and stool I scored on Craigslist for only $75!!!  

I can't wait to get started on it!!  Just look at those details!  The ball and claw feet!! AHH! :) Wunkie wants it to be pink, of course.  I really hesitate to paint such a lovely piece in pink.  I want it to be antique white!!  What do you think??
