Hallway Console Redo

A while ago a client of mine asked me to refinish a a buffet that she had in her front hallway.  She wanted to update the entryway and find a way to "make it pop".  I decided I would convince her to use a color I've been wanting to use for a long time! Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint in Emperor's Silk!

Below is the before.  It had a lot of structural damage to its legs from water damage and one of the doors wouldn't close properly. Once that was fixed, I sanded the piece down just enough to do away with the layer of polyurethane it had. I wanted to leave the black underneath it in order to match the artwork that inspired the piece.  It also needed new hardware.

Here is the inspiration for the color:

I wanted to match the dark red leaf in the painting.  How did I do?!

Isn't she LOVELY?!

The front door is also a deep red, so it truly just brings the whole space together so well.

Do any of YOU have a statement piece like this?

  3. Love, love, love the red buffet! I painted a similar piece using red milk paint many years ago and I still love it in my entry hall.
