Super Mario Bros. PARTY!

We recently celebrated my middle son's 7th birthday party! The theme: Super Mario Brothers!! I had a blast planning it and making the decorations!  One of my all time favorite childhood memories is attempting to beat level 7 in the original game with my baby brother!  Here is the table!
I found the templates for the Koopas and Gumbas here but made them out of felt instead of cardstock.  You will find I use felt for EVERYTHING! hehe  I bought gift boxes for 10cents each at a party store that was going out of business, painted them yellow (well actually my friend and right hand lady, Jenna did) then free-handed the question mark on it and filled them with Mario tin characters I bought at my local Five Below store.  The stars, bags, and confetti are from the same store as the boxes, also 40% off.  The background was made of out plain rolls of gift wrap paper and cardstock cut to resemble a scene from the video game.
Here's a closeup of the gift bags designed by me with images found on google:

And here are pictures of the cake and cupcakes also made by me!  The cake had a mishap, it was supposed to be three tiers and covered in fondant (which I've done a million times!) Unfortunately, in my haste I failed to give it enough dowels and support, and it fell apart! This cake was done less than an hour before the party!  The cupcakes are gluten-free, soy free, and Lactose-free.
My Peanut had a BLAST! We made Mario t-shirts with Puffy Paint, decorated our own Boo balloons with Sharpies and got to beat up a King Boo pinata made by me!
That's my Peanut with his favorite person in the whole wide world: Anna!  She's saved his life about 3 times (yes, I'm dead serious), gets him anything he wants (she does this for all three kids) and babysat him for the first 5 years of his life (besides me, she was the only one who could make him stop crying and go to sleep).  We heart her. Very much so!

Long post, huh? Guess I have to work on that! ;)
